If ever there was a person who lives and breathes the publishing industry, it’s me. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in Publishing from Kingston University in London, England. There, I specialized in Diversity + Inclusion in the Digital Age of Publishing, which comes in handy when working on racially charged or diversity-centric projects and book ideas.
I’ve had the honor of working within the hallowed walls of 3 of the Big 5 global conglomerate publishers, as well as in phenomenal, award-winning indie and non-fiction houses such as Zed Books in the UK. And, even now, I partner with KN Literary Arts, HarperCollins Publishers and Hachette Book Group’s editorial teams—as well as with New York-based Lopez Talent Management—on specialized projects.
I was the literary agent and first editor for J.J. Hensley’s debut fiction novel, Resolve, and have edited phenomenal big-name books, such as Zerlina Maxwell’s The End of White Politics and Alexandra Overy’s These Feathered Flames, among so many others. I’m also the author of my own book, The Other Americans: A Novel with more books on the horizon. My essays and short fiction have been published in Padmore Culture and Kingdoms in the Wild, respectively.
